Profiles
Carl Williams (born 15 January 1973) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Born in Newmarket, Suffolk, and raised in Kington, Herefordshire, he developed a passion for music from an early age. After beginning on guitar and mandolin as a child, he moved to keyboards at age eleven and taught himself piano by the age of fifteen.
Williams began writing songs at around fourteen while attending Lady Hawkins’ School in Kington, where he also performed in several local bands as a teenage keyboard player. At seventeen, he successfully auditioned for the Hoola Boola Boys, a UK live band known for their energetic mix of blues, rhythm & blues, and boogie-woogie, securing the role of pianist.
In 1992, Williams auditioned in Manchester for Cambrian Entertainments and other agencies seeking a singing piano entertainer. After securing the role, he began his professional career in February 1993, performing internationally in Norway and launching what would become a long-standing career in live entertainment. During this period he earned the nickname “Crazy Carl” for his high-energy, charismatic performances, later becoming widely known as “Piano Carl.”
Alongside his live entertainment career, Williams continued to write and record original music. In 2016, he founded Carl Williams Music and independently released his debut album, Let It Rain, formally establishing his original music project.
Today, Carl Williams continues to write, record, and release original material while performing internationally as both a singer-songwriter and live entertainer, balancing a lifelong passion for songwriting with a professional career spanning more than three decades.
